How the 5/2/2/5 cycle is mapped

Time Off Map treats the date on which a shift begins as its service date. It uses the simple roster answers above to find the one repeating sequence that fits. Dates before and after that known shift are calculated in both directions, including leap days.

Before relying on the calendar

  • The 14-day sequence repeats without switching to day shifts.
  • Each work date is treated as a 12-hour night shift beginning on that calendar date.
  • Overtime, trades, holidays, and employer-specific leave rules are not added automatically.
Common questions

5/2/2/5 schedule questions

Can one known work date identify my entire calendar?

Sometimes. When several parts of the rotation could fit that date, Time Off Map asks what your roster shows on a carefully chosen nearby date. It keeps asking only until one exact match remains and never silently guesses.

Does a holiday automatically remove my shift?

No. Rotating operations frequently continue through holidays. Holidays are informational unless you deliberately turn on the setting that treats U.S. federal holidays as non-working days.

Why might my employer’s 5/2/2/5 schedule differ?

Schedule names are not universal standards. Relief times, fixed versus rotating shifts, Kelly or debit days, crew phases, and local agreements can change the sequence. Compare the visible preset with your roster before using the result.
